My sister asked in comments what The Girl and I did for each other for Valentine's Day. I doubt very much that this has broad appeal (then again, at this moment, I doubt that much of what I have to say has broad appeal) but she's my sister, she's nice to me, she comments on my blog, and I owe her this at a minimum. :)
This being our first Valentine's Day together, we pretty much went all out for each other. I drew her a hot bath followed by giving her a massage (I've got strong hands and I enjoy giving massages) on the eve of V-Day and then snuck out of bed after she was asleep to set out her card and presents which I had previously hidden in the garage (I got her the obligatory box of dark chocolate truffles, plus a very nice wheeled laptop case/overnight bag that she had been coveting). Although I suspected she had already set my card out before she got in the tub, I was surprised to find that she had actually decorated the breakfast area with balloons and a dozen red roses. If that wasn't enough, she also got me a box of chocolates.
I would have been happy with that. But, no. There was more. She also got tickets for the two of us to go see The Lion King on stage (the Wharton Center in Lansing) this Saturday and an 18" gold necklace that I had wanted.
Then, as the coup de grâce, we had a very lovely, romantic dinner at one of Ann Arbor's nicest restaurants, the Gandy Dancer.
After dinner, she got on an airplane and flew to Philadelphia for a mediation session. :(
