Law Student Activists

From The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (The Task Force):

The Task Force, in partnership with the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), this week released a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal toolkit specifically for law student activists. The toolkit responds to law students’ direct requests for assistance following a recent Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of the Solomon Amendment, which threatens to withhold millions of dollars in federal funds from colleges and universities whose law schools bar military personnel from recruiting on campus.

The Task Force and SLDN have partnered to conduct trainings at Harvard Law School, the University of Michigan Law School and the American University-Washington College of Law on how law students can engage in and accelerate the national effort to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” We will also be conducting a featured workshop at the national Lavender Law Conference and LGBT Law Student Career Fair in September in Washington, D.C.

Also, if you're a law student and have the opportunity to attend, I highly recommend Lavender Law.  I went last year and I hear the workshop sponsored by SLDN is great this year!

[UPDATE] Did you also notice how the Marines are now having to recall thousands of vets because they don't have enough recruits? The Army has already recalled 14,000 for the same reason.  But, no, we can't let those queers serve (we've discharged (fired) 10,000 people from the military solely because they were gay). This year, the discharges for being gay have spiked.  Write a letter.  You have the time.  Just do it.

First let me tell you who I am, I am Amanda, Adam's wife, OMG, Second let me say I am so sorry. I found your page through Amanda, your kiddo, and I was looking around and found your post from Mar 21, 2005. I had no idea Adam did that. I wish he would have come and talked to me about it cause I would have had no problem having you at the wedding, if you wanted to come. You are a part of Adam's life and I don't want him to shut you out because he thinks that my family or even I will disapprove. From everything Adam has said to me about you, he thinks of you like a father figure and I hate that he did that to you. Please just let me say that I am so sorry and I wish there was some way that I could turn back time and change this. Yes, I was raised in a very Christian home, but I am not that close minded. I am at such a lose of words here. I just wish Adam would think before he assumes things like that! Once again I am so sorry!

AP -- thanks very much for noticing! :)
I don't kwow when/if I'll be back posting. Life is very full for me right now and I have suddenly felt myself unable to find the time or motivation.

Amanda -- thank you. You did not have to introduce yourself; I knew who you were from your name! :) Adam will always be part of my family, part of my life. I was hurt by his comment, but it did not alter my love for him at all. I wish the two of you wonderful happiness, always.

Denise:
Thank Goodness we now know you're out there. We all miss your postings. I know about work and how it can consume all the time there is. I lived that way for years. It took a near fatal heart attack to slow me down and put me where I am now with my life. I've never been so happy as I am now. You have had a big impact on moving Sally's life forward and I sure grateful for your blog.
All the same, we miss you!!!!
