What next?!

My poor little car has offended no one that I know of, yet it seems that people and other cars want to hurt it.  Today, leaving the eye doctor's office another car rammed into us (The Girl was driving) in the parking lot.  It was totally the other person's fault; he was simply going too fast and not paying enough attention.

We had to have the car towed as it was not drivable -- the passenger side front wheel was completely bent inward and the fender around it was damaged.  The other car was barely damaged. The driver of the car hopped out of the car and took off, never to be see again.  It turns out he was some guy that the owner of the car had picked up in a bar the previous week and barely knew (though he'd been staying with her since that evening; she didn't even know his phone number (and, of course, she had no insurance).  The police think they know who he is based on the name he gave her, but even that turned up two different dates-of-birth.

Sheesh.  Now, instead of driving my new car with the navigation system to DC tomorrow, we'll have to take The Girl's car, which gets much worse gas mileage.  This is the second time someone has hit my car and then taken off! Some people.

Denise, oh no. What a bummer!I'm so sorry about your little car. Is it going to be fixable? Sure hope so. Too bad these things happen. Good that you have other transportation.

Yes, the car is repairable; we actually should get it by the end of next week, believe it or not (well, at least that's what they said).

I just figure that I'm lucky enough to have good insurance (pays up to $50/day for a rental as well as covers the repairs) and that we do have multiple cars.

Still, the Prius would be much less expensive to drive out there; plus I will really miss my Nav system!

Hey BoSox! Did you bring your portable nav system to DC? :)

Denise:
I'm so sorry about your car. The prius is a pleasure to drive.
Your experienc is symtomatic of the times. That culprit will probably go unpunished unless the crime techs were able to pick up his fingerprints from either the house where he was a "guest" or from the car that he was driving when he hit your car. Surely one or two good prints would be available there for the taking and then there would be some solid lead to his real identity. I bet he has a sheet on him when they get an identity.
this isn't the first bad thing he's ever done.
Lets hope the police investiges at least superficially for evidence and does a little follow up.
Have a good trip to DC!

Thank god you are OK. But that just really stinks. Sorry to hear that.

I think it's a vast right-wing conspiracy underwritten by the oil industry to take out the hybrids one at a time through seemingly innoucous accidents like this that leave the car crippled and ensure that you must rely on chug-a-lug non-hybrid transportation.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Glad to hear the car will soon be fixed. My mom has a lavender one and my dad has a maroon/red one, so I know the car well. Have a safe journey to my neck of the woods!

Daddy!!! I hope you and The Girl are okay. Please no more car accidents, or baseballs to the head....maybe we should bubble wrap you...
