Thoughts about Gender at Scheherazade's Stay of Execution, and
PG's response -- This is Shorter than 1,001 Tales at Half the Sins of Mankind.
Gosh, but I love thinking people. My comment to PG:
Well, I have to argue that gender matters (to me), or why the hell else would I bother to transition? Is it a social construct? Well, of *course* it is. But, so what? Just because it was constructed by society -- and given its meaning thereby -- doesn't mean it doesn't matter. I think we are changing HOW it matters and that's a great thing. Sherry can do autobody repair; I can't change my own oil. More and more we move toward less rigid gender roles. But, we all still play -- and it's not an entirely unsatisfying game.
