Womanless wedding

Ah, but those Texans know how to have fun.

Imagine a wedding in which the bride is none other than County Commissioner John Paul Ross. Well, the Blooming Grove Womanless Wedding fundraiser for the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Communities in Action library and volunteer center and the empty stocking fund, which is a fund for the needy that is managed jointly by the community churches.

The wedding is planned for the Saturday after Valentine’s Day, Feb. 18, at the Blooming Grove elementary cafeteria.

The bridal party also consists of several local Blooming Grove celebrities that have volunteered for the event such as County Judge Alan Bristol, Blooming Grove Head Football Coach Ronnie Wilson, Elementary Principal David Brewer, Band Director Terry Lovett, Technology Director David Haden, Phil Golden and Mark Plyer to name a few.

OK, I know this is an attempted dig at Texas. But we Texans have never taken ourselves too seriously (and FWIW, true Texans don't claim the G. Bush clan as one of their own) and yes, we DO know how to have fun.
