Friends

I got an emergency call from a law school friend this afternoon.  She was quite ill and her partner was out of the country.  Would I mind coming over and walking her dog?  Of course not!

Well, she is really ill.  After I walked the dog, I insisted that I take her to the clinic and then spend the night on her couch to make sure she was ok.

The funny part about this is when we were at the clinic she was given a prescription for nausea and I left her in her room, under the nurse's watchful eye, while I ran downstairs to the pharmacy to have it filled.  I came back up to get her and we had to wait for a minute in order to pay for the drugs.  As we were sitting there I noticed on the receipt that it said: "Upstairs with her daughter."

Shit.  I've commented many times on the fact that I am a "non-traditional" student and have made numerous jokes about it and about how I just don't feel old(er).  (If you want to find those posts, be my guest; I'm far too lazy right now to go hunt them down and include the links for you).  Still, every once in a while I am confronted with the reality of it.  I hope my "daughter" feels better soon.  ::sigh::
